The Australian optical industry has come out in support of the inaugural O-SHOW, held from 21-22 May at Peninsula, Docklands, Melbourne and hosted by ODMA. Showcasing Australian leaders in equipment, sunglasses, frames, and lenses, O-SHOW delivered the latest optical industry technology showcase.
Finola Carey CEO of ODMA says “We have been delighted with the look and feel of the event, with excellent feedback from both visitors and exhibitors. This pop up boutique event is what the independent optical industry has been asking for.”
A highlight of O-SHOW was the Business Snapshot Seminars featuring Mark Davis, Melbourne Education & Training Centre; Robert Springer, OptomEDGE; and Paul Hillier, Clarity 2020 limited. Held over the two days, these snappy business sessions focused on ‘improving your business’ with topics focusing on customer service, digital marketing and patient retention.
Adding to the atmosphere, live demonstrations were hosted by exhibitors across the two days, with visitors enjoying the opportunity to interact and participate whilst being educated on the latest technologies in the optical industry.
What’s hot in window displays was also a popular feature, with highly acclaimed retail stylist for the optical industry, Kerry van Beuge, creating eye catching window displays from a window space to finished design. Visitors learnt about design tips, upcoming trends and what to do with all the point of sale items that end up in their office.
The Cocktail Party held on the Saturday evening was a wonderful networking opportunity for both visitors and exhibitors, with lots of fun had and cash prizes given away. The $500 cash prize to spend at O-SHOW was awarded to Brendan Hawkes, Lake Eyewear.
ODMA2017 the next major event for the independent optical industry will be held 7-9 July 2017 at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney. Enquires can be made through International Exhibition & Conference Group on telephone 03 9596 9205.
