For the third year running, IEC Group has sponsored Daniher’s Drive, the annual fundraising event for FightMND which raised a milestone $2.5 million this year to fund ongoing research for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Part of IEC Group’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, the fundraising event is also close to the organisation’s heart after the recent passing of industry colleague, Mark Yourne to MND.
The former electrical contractor worked tirelessly on many events for Australian Exhibition & Conferences Pty Ltd with Marie Kinsella, now CEO at IEC Group, for more than ten years.
“Mark is fondly remembered by so many in the Australian exhibition industry. He was diligent and hardworking. Mark always walked very fast around the build-up of a show – it was hard to keep up with his pace.
“We worked on many events together when he was the head electrical contractor at Expo Hire and then again when he became an independent electrical contractor,” Marie Kinsella, CEO, IEC Group Pty Ltd said.
IEC Group is proud to be part of the effort to raise awareness of the heartbreaking and debilitating nature of the disease and is committed to supporting FightMND in its efforts to raise funds so that research and trials into finding an effective treatment and cure can continue..
A convoy of 100 cars departed Government House Melbourne on Thursday 11 October for the 2018 Daniher’s Drive rally before travelling more than 1100 kilometres through Victoria and South Australia. The fun, community-based event raises awareness about MND and the need to fund critical research in a quest to find a cure as it tours regional areas of Australia.
Former Essendon footballer and Melbourne coach, Neale Daniher, was diagnosed with MND in 2013 and is now known and respected for his prominent role as a campaigner for medical research. Neale is co-founder and Vice Chairman at fightMND.
